Massage therapy has been practiced for centuries, offering numerous physical and emotional benefits.  The ‘ambience‘ and ‘atmosphere‘ is also of key importance, so at Emerald Spa, we always maintain the highest hygiene standards of cleanliness,  perfect room temperature, with fresh scents, fresh clean towels, new sheets, a range of heated massage oils of the highest quality, atmospheric lighting, and welcome drinks (any kind). We always put YOU as a PERSON in first place. Here is a brief overview of 8 popular massage types, offered by Emerald Spa, highlighting their unique features and benefits. We can also provide a package of a mixture or fusion of various massage types to suit you, and offer packages including private sauna (indoors), jacuzzi (outdoor, in the garden), and overnight stays (with breakfast).

When you book any massage at Emerald Spa, you are booking exclusivity, luxury, and so you will enjoy total privacy and discretion. You should remember to communicate any medical conditions you might have concerning your skin, muscles or other body parts, or any other concerns you have, which might cause problems during a massage. You will then take a shower before the massage starts. We provide all towels, soaps and footwear. You need only bring yourself to Emerald Spa.

For a couple attending together, there are two options for any type of massage: a) One massage therapist will massage each person one at a time, while the other person observes or waits. This option will take at least 2 hours. b) Two massage therapists: The couple are massaged at the same time. The experienced massage therapists for a couple are usually one woman and one man (but can also be 2 women) and the session may be 60, 90 or 120 minutes.

Some of these massages could also be performed on you by 2 massage therapists at the time, to give a ‘four-hands massage‘. Ask for availability when you book.

During massage you may communicate with your therapist regarding the pressure, temperature and your preferences, but in order to achieve maximum results, it is not advised to otherwise chat during the massage, as it can prevent you relaxing. There is usually time for conversations before or after your massage. During the session, focus on your breathing, presence, and relaxing.

Remember too, that it is usual to repeat massages regularly to ensure good health (both physical and mental), and to be fully effective. We recommend weekly visits, to invest in yourself.

1. Classic (Swedish) Massage:

It relieves muscle tension, reduces stress, and enhances overall well-being, making it a great option for beginners. This is usually 60 minutes (full body) or 90 minutes (includes fully body, face and head). This massage can be given with you optionally wearing underwear. Your massage therapist can be of the gender you would prefer, and they will be dressed. The massage is performed with hands and arms.

2. Relaxing Massage:

This gentle massage aims to calm the mind and body, using long, soothing strokes and light pressure. It is ideal for those seeking stress relief, mental clarity, and an overall sense of tranquility. The music, light therapy and aromatherapy used will all add to the relaxing atmosphere. We recommend you take a massage package that includes time in the relaxing sauna, and the hot-tub overlooking the tranquil garden. This massage can be given with you optionally wearing underwear. Your massage therapist can be of the gender you would prefer, and they will be dressed. The massage is performed with hands and arms.

3. Lomi-Lomi Nui Massage:

lomi lomi massageOriginating in Hawaii, Lomi-Lomi Nui is a holistic technique that integrates physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. It employs continuous, rhythmic and flowing strokes and gentle stretching to release blockages and restore balance. This massage type is perfect for those seeking emotional and physical harmony. This massage can be given with you optionally wearing underwear. Your massage therapist, of the gender you choose, can be of the gender you would prefer, and they will be dressed. The massage is performed with hands and arms.

4. Tantric Massage:

Drawing from ancient Indian practices, tantric massage focuses on balancing energy and awakening the senses. Through gentle touch, meditation, and breath-work, it promotes emotional and physical healing, as well as increased self-awareness and spiritual growth. For some, there is a ‘spiritual’ connection, as your chakras are blessed and awakened. It is very sensual, with close personal contact and embraces. The massage may be performed with the therapist topless or without clothing, depending on the length of the massage or the fusion of massages used in the session, and involves using delicate touches,  all over the body and head, with hands, arms, hair etc. Such massages are more demanding and advanced, so are of a higher price. Tantric massages are suitable, and available for couples or singles for any gender.

5. Hot Stones Massage:

Using heated basalt stones placed on strategic points, this massage type relieves muscle tension and enhances circulation. The heat from the stones promotes deep relaxation, making it an excellent choice for those with chronic pain or stress. The session will start with a classic massage at first, with the stones being used at various points during the session, both moving the stones and using them to apply pressure, as well as laying them on your body. This massage can be given with you optionally wearing underwear

6. Deep-Tissue Sports Massage:

Such sessions are often cumulative and we may require more than one meeting.

It helps to reduce wrinkles, tone facial muscles, and enhance overall skin health.  It involves using gentle, rhythmic strokes and pressure on specific points of the face to stimulate circulation, reduce tension and promote a healthy, glowing complexion. Typically a session lasts for about 60 to 90 minutes. During this time, the practitioner will work on various areas of the face, including the forehead, cheeks, jawline, and neck. It’s important to note that the effects of the massage can be cumulative, and regular sessions over an extended period may be necessary to achieve optimal results.
